Well placed sources have confirmed that former PA. Governor Tom Ridge was offered and has accepted the nomination to replace Justice David Souter in the highest court in the land. Once again President Barack Obama has fulfilled another major campaign promise; to reach his hand across the aisle and work with the opposition. While most political scientists and analysts will argue that this was politically motivated, to secure a clear path for Sen. Arlen Specter in the 2010 elections, others will surmise that it was a brilliant choice for a speedy confirmation in the wake of his disastrous and in some cases ill-advised cabinet nominees who rescinded their nominations once damaging information was exposed by the media. However, the truth of the matter is that within Gov. Tom Ridge, resides a moderate Republican who on the one hand appeases the Conservatives with his unwavering stance against homosexuality by protecting traditional marriage, and on the other, the Liberals for his endorsement of abortion.
